Lesson Plan Details
Duration: 
30 minutes/class time over several weeks
Objective: 
Students will learn how to use a digital camera. Students will learn how to use the application Keynote to make a slide show. Students will share their completed slide show in front of the class as their first speaking sample.
Resources: 
Recording USB headphone, Laptop, Digital Camera, Keynote, iPhoto, Inspiration
Preparation: 

Prior to instruction, the teacher needs to...

Charge cameras.

Become familiar with Keynote.

Learn how to import photos into iPhoto.

Instruction: 

In this lesson, the teacher will...

Day 1--Students will practice at school using the digital cameras.  In groups they will take pictures around the school and import them into iPhoto.  We will look at them as a class and discuss what makes a good photo.

Day 2—Teacher will read aloud, All About You, published by Scholastic. Using Inspiration to brainstorm, the class will make a concept web of pictures they might take and include in their slideshow.

Day 3- ??  Cameras will be sent home with students each night.  Students will import their photos into iPhoto the following morning on their laptop.

Day 4- ??  Students will use the application, Keynote to make their slideshow.  Using  Keynote students will learn to choose a theme, make text boxes, import photos, insert transitions and builds, record narration, etc.

Day 5—Narrate slide show using recording headphones.  

   

Assessment: 

Students will share, "All About Me" with their classmates.  They will be scored using the ODE Speaking scoring guide.
