Lesson Plan Details
one hour
Students will create an All About Me poem using the instant poetry forms on the Educational Technology Training Center website.
Classroom set of laptops to be used in a 2-1 format, internet access, printer

Prior to instruction, the teacher needs to...

*Teach different forms of poetry.

*Have a class discussion about using strong descriptive words.

In this lesson, the teacher will...

*Have students work in partners and navigate to the website with the instant poetry forms (I put a link to it on my classroom blog to make this easy for them).

*Discuss possibilities for using strong, specific, descriptive words to fill in each of the blanks.

*Let each pair of students work together to fill out and print a poem for each student.

*Students can then add illustrations, and put them together in a classroom book (they could also be posted to the blog).

*There are tons of awesome poetry forms on this site that the students will want to explore!

*Assessment will be done through teacher observation and successful completion of the project.
