Lesson Plan Details
Duration:
45 minutes
Objective:

Students will learn to create arrays and find factors and products.

Resources:
SMARTboard, Netbooks (with notebook 10)
Preparation:

Prior to instruction, the teacher needs to instruct students on how to use Notebook10.  Teacher should be familiar with the "Array Stage" Notebook10 page.  Students should be able to make, clone, and move a square in Notebook10.

Instruction:

Discuss setting up a theater for a stage performance.  There will be 12 people coming to watch the performance.  Have students work in pairs on netbooks to arange chairs (squares cloned on notebook 10) in equal rows (1 row of 12, 2 rows of 6, etc.)  Students will label each array with it's dimentions and write an equation.  After students have created each of the arrays for 12 chairs tell students that 6 more people will be showing up to watch the play.  Students will need to rearange the chairs for the performance.  Student pairs should share arangements with the whole group.

Assessment:

Individual students are given two different numbers (that they have not worked with) of chairs to arrange.  Students need to find all the ways to arrange the chairs for the perfomance.
