Duration: 
1 Class Period
Objective: 

Students will learn to solve real-world problems involving surface area of a rectangular prism.

Resources: 
Smart Notebook File (Coca-Cola Problem)
Preparation: 

Prior to instruction, the teacher needs to review problem and watch the video.  

Instruction: 

In this lesson, the teacher will have students view video and make a prediction about the essential question (including answers that are too high and too low).  Teacher will then facilitate student brainstorming for information that is important to solve the essential question.  Once students have had a chance to solve on their own, teacher will then show the answer.  Teacher will summarize learning and process of solving the essential question (student work may be included to show solving process).  

Assessment: 

Review student work and assign a "sequel" question to check for understanding. (sequel questions are on the last page of the smart notebook)
