Duration:

Objective: 
Introduce students to Photostory software through the building of a class "Eagle" I Am poem.
Resources: 
Photostory software, a file of eagle images, an I Am planning template (Jennifer Gingerich), computer with microphone, Kidspiration software.
Preparation: 

Prior to instruction, the teacher needs to guide students through an I Am poem template. A Kidspiration I Am poem is attached, but this step can be done by paper/pencil.

 

Find and save a group of pictures of eagles, one for each student in the class. Load these in a shared folder that students can access.

Instruction: 
  1. After the students have written their I Am poem, have them star their favorite line and practice reading it fluently.

2. Gather students at the rug with their I Am poems. 3. Teacher builds Photostory with student imput (Image per student.) 4. Students take turns rrecording their I Am statements on the image of their choice. 5. Add music and transitions if you desire. 6. Teacher demonstrates proper saving techniques. 7. If desired students can create partner Eagle Photostories the following day.

Assessment: 

Students will work in partners to build a simple 5 slide I Am poem Photostory on eagles or an animal of their choice.
