Is anyone using Ipads with 3G or 4G in schools instead of wifi?

Given the challenges of network access, is anyone purchasing 3G or 4G services for iPads in schools?

At least in most of our schools, the wireless signal is pathetic because of concrete and other building materials.  Before I even thought about it, I'd test wireless signal strength with a phone.

In addition, 3G and 4G carry a monthly charge.  At some point, that will exceed the cost of a wireless access point.

One more thing to consider is that it's specific to one device.  If you go with a classroom set, they can't use that device's wi-fi so that's another limitation to consider.
